Eaton Electric B.V. has over 1,200 employees in the Netherlands and abroad. The annual turnover exceeds euro 150 million. The Holec brand comprises product lines directly aiming at distinguished product/market combinations: Medium Voltage, Low Voltage Systems and Low Voltage Components. The Holec brand, under the legal entity name of Eaton Electric B.V. is part of Eaton Corporation, a global industrial manufacturer with a wide product range. Already for a century Eaton Electric B.V. develops, produces and sells products for switching, distributing and protecting electrical energy on low and medium voltage level. Under the brand name Holec, Eaton Electric B.V. is a partner for utilities, electrical contractors and light and heavy industry.
In the Netherlands, using the Holec brand name, the product lines Medium Voltage Systems, Low Voltage Systems and Low Voltage Cmponents are active. Holec history in short On 1 March 1962 Holec N.V. was formed by an exchange of stock between 'Heemaf N.V.' and the 'N.V. Electrotechnische Industrie voorheen Willem Smit & Co.' (Electrotechnical Industrie Willem Smit of better known as Smit Slikkerveer). A year later, on 15 July 1963, the 'N.V. Fabriek van Electrische Apparaten voorheen F. Hazemeyer & Co.' (Factory of Electrical Apparatus, formerly F. Hazemeyer & Co.) and 'Heemaf N.V.' established the 'Samenwerkende Electrotechnische Fabrieken Holec N.V.' (co-operating Electrotechnical Factories Holec N.V.).
In the early seventies the activities of the several co-operating companies where brought together in groups like the Holec Switchgear Group and the Holec Machines and Systems Group.
End of 1989 all Holec shares where taken over by the Royal Dutch Begemann Group. A process of decentralisation started, in which Holec Systems and Components was formed, together with Holec International as holding company. At the end of 1994 Holec High Voltage, part of Holec Systems and Componente, was taken out of the group and sold to Elin Energieversorgung GmbH in Austria.
By December 1995 the activities of the Holec groups Low Voltage, Medium Voltage and General Supplies are separated from Begemann to be acquired by a group of investors. UBS Capital B.V., the venture capital branche of Union Bank of Switzerland, is the majority shareholder, next to CINven -a British group of pension funds- and the acting Holec-management.
In November 1996 2,6% of shares was owned by Holec employees.
Since 28 April 1998 the activities of Holec Holland are part of Delta plc, a British industrial group, quoted at the London stock exchange. Delta has three main activities, in two separate divisions; Industrial Services and Electrical. Within the electrical division the aquisition of Holec Holland doubles turnover and operational profit.
